Chandrasekhar named CEO of TCS

Tata Consultancy Services, a software giant in India, has named  Mr. Chandrasekaran as its Chief Executive Officer, and he took the seat of the ex-CEO Mr.Ramadurai. Though Chandrasekaran will be taking official charge only from October 6th, the process for the change is on. Mr.Ramadurai who has been with TCS ever since the company started, has been a phenomenal performer. Under his guidance TCS grew more global than ever. His retirement marks a great loss to the company.

The clock still keeps ticking

Today morning I woke up late, unusually at around 9AM. I had to hurry down for my coffee, because it was already late, but on reaching down, I realised my Dad was not feeling well. Well, my mom’s got a fractured hand, and with my Dad ill, I had to do the regular day to day activities plus, the Mr.Husband job! When, this was bad. I managed to buy some good food for the morning, my Dad wanted to leave to the hospital at 11. He left at 11, was back at 11.05. He was thoroughly irritated with something, someone, and I found out it was me. Why? Well, I had accidentally got his vehicle punctured on my way back from the hotel and the blame fell on me, I was not bothered, a lot of commotion in the family, I was not bothered(again). Also, when I went for repairing my vehicle, the mechanic was so busy with other vehicles that had come, he did not bother about mine, so had to wait until evening before he could repair mine. After finishing with my vehicle, I had to get back my PC from a service centre, and that too happened, happened, and took most of the eAvening. I went out to eat in the night, and here I am typing an online-diary-entry, and just above my head, THE CLOCK STILL KEEPS TICKING!

Growth of extremist culture in Pakistan

As far as I’m concerned I believe that halfbaked solutions are no solutions at all. Although the US government has coopted Pakistan’s forces in quelling the Taliban and al-Qaeda, it is unlikely to solve the real problem. It is unlikely that a country like Pakistan whose very foundation is religious identity would ever allow the jihadi culture to be fully purged from society.

The only consolation that the US can derive is military conquest against its present adversaries. The way fundamentalism has affected the younger generation in the region is disturbing, with serious future implications for India. The Indian government must think wisely before it thinks of resuming ties with Pakistan

Being at home

Being at home all the time is one of the most irritating things that can happen to any one. Especially if you are boy in your early twenties(doesn matter if your single or double, or er..) being under the constant supervision of parents is very boring. And at times you get to do a lot of work, when either your parents are sick, or they say, “we have done all this when we were your age” and now you really dont have a choice. Today I wanted to go out with my friends, but everyone had a different plan and with the IPL semi finals @ 7.30 none budged out of their seats in the evening.

What are stem cells?

STEM CELLS are the precursor cells that can give rise to mutiple tissue types. Stem cells are primal cells found in all multi cellular organisms. They actually retain their ability to renew themselves through mitotic cell division and can differentiate into a diverse range of specialised cell types.

The rigorous definition of a stem cell requires it to have two properties:

Self renewal: that is the ability to go through numerous cycles of cell division while maintaining the undifferentaited state.

Unlimited potency: the capacity to differentiate into any mature cell type.

Digit Magazine Editor not happy with customer care guys

Digit Magazine Editor, Robert Sovereign-Smith, is supposidely not happy with the way things are going in the electronic world. In the recent edition of Digit(May 2009) the editors column contains information very supportive of this. He has said that the reaction call centre guys or customer care guys give to problems is pathetic and needs to be really taken care of. He additionally says he gets pissed off with the way people speak to him, and gets irritated when people who know less about their own product(than him) talk with him. Well, how long can he wait, he also needs some revenge.

A Cursed Partnership

We always seem to have a problem solving our political issues thanks to unnecessary intervention from the United States. The Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has shown the courage to admit that the ISI and the CIA created the Taliban.

Here, we feel flattered as the US praises our restraint in the wake of 26/11. Successive US administrations have been drawing wool over India’s eyes vis-a-vis terrorism emanating from Pakistan because any reaction from this country to such depredations affects their interests in Pakistan.

While the US knows how to look after its security and national interests, India is remiss in such matters. Depending on them would be unwise as they seem unwilling to starve Pakistan financially and militarily.

A brilliant scheme to improve voter turnout

It was quite disheartnening to see the voter turnout at the recent elections. People keep complaining about poor governance, poor infrastructure, reservations etc but they have only themselves to blame. With poor turn outs like these, it is obvious that the government we are looking for will never come to power. being a responsible citizen of this country, I wanted to do something which could improve this voter turnouts. An idea stuck me. However bizarre it may seem, to improve voter turnout is to adapt the midday meal scheme run in schools. An election day meal scheme could be launched by the Election Commission to increase the voting percentage. It would fill the bellies of millions who cannot manage one square meal a day even after 60 years of independence. Let them celebrate democracy at least on the day of polling.
